I've always been fascinated by cicadas, so this year I started collecting specimens from around the world. This is a species from Thailand. I used panoramic stitching and focus stacking to achieve the look of this image. I wanted this series to be based on specimen documentation but I wanted them to also feel beautiful and otherworldly.
