I took this photo after driving a few hours to Twin Lakes, Colorado. The weather looked a bit iffy, but that added some moodiness to the sky and lighting which I captured by lowering my aperture to f/4 in order to maximize the amount of light and give some depth to the image. I usually shoot in a neutral color profile on my Canon 6D Mark II so that I have some flexibility when editing in Lightroom. For this photo, I bumped the saturation and vibrance a bit, increased the shadows and whites, and lowered the highlights. By including a particularly vibrant aspen in the foreground, I was able to convey just how intense the fall colors appeared to me this year.
