Going to take photographs during a weather warning is not advisable considering the risks, but taking some shots was a must, especially after four years of not visiting Portovenere due to relocation (and Covid problem), the wind was very strong, both the camera and the tripod was shaking, it was impossible to take long exposures, the rain and the waves became more and more aggressive rapidly, I only managed to take a few shots, just in time before I literally had to run away quickly so as not to end up overwhelmed by the waves because the wind had changed direction and it came from the front and I could have ended up dragged out into the stormy sea.
Taking the shots wasn't easy, with the incessant rain and waves washing over the camera and having to constantly clean.

But fortunately I returned home safe and sound, even if completely wet from head to toe and I was still happy to have managed to take this shot at Byron's Cave that I had had in mind for a long time with such weather conditions.

Shot info: Canon 5DmkII - Lens -16-35 L f4 - iso 100 - f/14 - ND8 - GND 3 stop medium - Polarizer - 3sec of exposure for the base shot and and 3 more shots to recover the details of the sky and shadows, the sunlight coming from the left was really very strong and unfortunately due to lack of time (for my safety) it didn't have many details because I wasn't able to take any further shots.

The post production was carried out mainly in Lightroom/Camera Raw for the global adjustments on the image and Photoshop to merge with the other shots and to remove the infinite water stains that deposited on the lens during shooting, this required a lot hours of post production.
As always, as a last step I used the Nik Collection to refine the final image.

And remember that your safety comes first! ;)
