Flaming mountain
When I first came across this scenery in the Lofoten Islands (Norway), I knew I had to come back for a night shot. The most iconic shot of the iconic fishing village Hamnøy is taken at Hamnøy bridge, a few minutes away from this location and usually very crowded. Here, I had the fishermen's cabins and Festhelltinden mountain all to myself for the entire night.
However, as is often the case, the aurora had a mind of its own, never really appearing in the frame of the shot that I had planned. Three hours in the bitter cold and the moment finally arrived. One happy photographer!
To balance out the foreground and background, I brought down the highlights in the cabins and street lights by blending them in from a slightly darker exposure.
Shot with Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z 14-30 f/S lens at f/4, 8 seconds, ISO 400.
