"Vegas Rising"

I flew into Vegas to visit some friends with one real goal in mind - Get a great shot of The Strip. The problem was I couldn't for the life of me find a great vantage point.

Then about 30min from sunset, the friend I was meeting told me their co-worker had a great view from the Cosmopolitan and that he'd let me up. I RAN up the stairs.

The timing couldn't have been more perfect. As I set up my tripod the sun hit the horizon and the Bellagio fountain show began. The rest is history.

HDR bracketed 3 image panorama, shot with a Nikon D700. Was able to pull off the classic Elia Locardi magic hour blending by sitting on the balcony over the course of 20min. I chose to keep the edges slightly bowed to keep the image symmetrical with the railing.

Very nice golden city glow with the blue/lavender tones of the sky.

Love the lights of the city offset by the contrasting light of the sky

That view is always incredible! I might crop it just a little to remove the railing and the parking lot on the bottom left though.
