My favorite images are those that capture the personality of the subject, often only achieved after getting people to let down their guard. Captured during a family outing one Sunday afternoon, this image of my youngest son is no different. The goal this day, to get more current images of my family for our home... in the same manner I've done so for past clients.

This moment was just after my son had told a dad joke that got his sister laughing somewhat uncontrollably. The expression here is one of pure joy, not forced, not contrived… simply joy, happiness, and playfulness… a fitting description of my boy.

Image captured on Canon EOS R6 using RF24-105mm/F4 lens. 1/1000 sec at f/4, ISO 400. Actual focal length: 85mm. Natural light. Was a bit overcast as it was about to rain soon, but due to cloud coverage there was no light speckling. Shot as open as lens would allow and bumped the ISO up just a tad so I could shoot with a higher shutter speed to avoid motion blur.
