"My Chaos of Light"
Self-portrait, environmental

It's become a tradition for me to do a self-portrait on my birthday and this year I wanted to build out a bit of a vintage feeling set in my small studio. I used pretty much every light I have in this and it took a lot of fine-tuning to get it all balanced just right in camera.

There's 2 constant lights in the scene -- the projection on the background and a little LED panel behind the comically large lightbulb on the right which is actually the original 2000W (!) halogen bulb from the vintage theatre spotlight. Inside that spotlight is a Godox speedlight with a CTO gel and it's feathered just behind me so it's hitting the silver reflector on the left.
Key + rim + fill lights are all visible in frame:
Key - 120cm parabolic softbox
rim - 35x120 stripbox
fill - small white umbrella
Lots of black fabric and massive black negative fills all around to reduce spill and enhance overall contrast to achieve this low-key look.

A different posing would help a lot.
