I was hired to photograph an event where author John Grisham was the keynote speaker. I had a moment with him & asked for a portrait & he graciously agreed. There was a room covered in paintings & mirrors with deep blue/green walls. I quickly tried a few lighting options & my favorite was bounding my speedlight off a mirror to my left and using that light. I tend to focus on real/natural expressions and poses.
