1.97 - "Needs Work"

I shot this last year, after a couple of Forensic Specialists on Santa Monica PD's forensic team asked me to take their group photo. They didn't want the typical group shot of everyone standing in a line with very rigid poses, so we came up with a plan to shoot something a little more cinematic. We then met in an alley in the city, and this was the final result. They loved it.

Shot on a Nikon D750 with a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens. For the lighting, I had them park one of their forensic trucks at the end of the alley and turn on their emergency lights to light up the background. I also used a Nikon SB-800 flash attached to a Photix octagonal softbox, which was placed high on a stand and fired with Pocket Wizard a trigger and receiver. Lastly, I used one had one of the team members use her flashlight to light the back of the specialist in the center and create some separation. The shoes were added in post using Photoshop's generative fill.

Settings were f/7.1 at 1/4 of a second and ISO 2400. Camera was on a tripod as well.
