Giselle. This image was shot for an upcoming dance theatre piece. Giselle is a classic ballet story about a girl, who becomes a "Wili", one of the ghostly spirits of maidens betrayed by their lovers, after she kills herself on her wedding day. So she needed to look a little spooky, a little worn down and seductive at the same time. On the day of the shoot we accidentally found a tree set on one of the theatre's studios, so we used it, as it helped the idea. My assistant is laying on the floor right in front of the model, holding a small softbox upwards, hence the dramatic uplighting you see. Another flash with a green gel is behind the model, also facing up, on the floor. The third light is coming from the camera right back, as a kick. The ghostly effects of her face are added in PS, just like the totally fake tree branches (they are just simple manual brushstrokes, with gaussian blur).
