This high-performance ball valve, designed for commercial plumbing applications, represents the forefront of manufacturing technology, utilizing advanced laser welding in its production.
The lighting setup was crucial in creating this hero shot. I first dialed in a solid composition that lends itself to heroic looking product imagery. Next I added complimentary colored gels to studio strobes and positioned my lights in just the right places creating shape, form, texture and contrast on the product. Then, in order to visually convey speed and flow while also paying homage to the laser welding process, I creatively implemented light painting techniques using a variety of custom-made light painting tools. All these effects were were done by hand and meticulously captured in-camera.
