3 - "Solid"

This hero shot is a composite image that involved a lot work. I first dialed in a solid composition that shows the depth of the bottle at a 3/4 angle. The lighting setup was crucial in creating this hero shot.

I wanted the bottle to look like is was dropping into the crisp, deep blue sea. So I put my key light (the dominant light source) coming from the top of the frame. I used the super fast flash duration from my Paul C Buff Einsteins to capture the fast moving bubbles in a fairly large tank of water using various techniques in order to create a wide variety of bubble shapes.

All these effects were were done by hand and meticulously captured in-camera, then composited together with the bottle in Photoshop. This kind of product image takes hours to complete. Masking out these bubbles and moving them around to see where they fit best in the composition is very similar to putting a puzzle together.

Really cool shot and deserves more than a 3 rating.

Hi Anthony Sheridan, thanks for the kind words man, I really appreciate it. If you look at my actual profile portfolio, this same image is rated higher. When it comes to these critiques, people always rate them lower for some reason. - https://fstoppers.com/photo/618339. Cheers 🍻
