I shot this during the Los Angeles riots in back in April 1992. I had just started learning photography and was taking a photojournalism course at a local college while also working full-time as an EMT for a private ambulance company.
I shot this at the height of the chaos on day 2 of the rioting (And no, it was not "unrest") at the corner of Century Blvd and Hawthorne Blvd in Lennox. Shortly after we left this scene, my partner and I were attacked by a mob of looters as we were headed to another fire station to stage with larger strike teams.
Crazy times.
At the time, I was using a Nikon N6006 35mm film camera with a 50mm lens. I can't remember the settings or which film I used, but it was probably the Fuji film that you could buy in packets of 4 at Sam's Club.
