Fifty years ago, one of the most unusual anti-military movements in U.S. history was that of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) led by John Kerry. In September of 1970, at one of its first events, a contingent or VVAW members marched from Morristown, NJ, to Valley Forge National Historical Park where they gathered in an open field across from the Washington Memorial Chapel. A Philadelphia news reporter at the time, I photographed the event with my Canon FT QL 35mm SLR. Among those present were John Kerry and Jane Fonda, an ardent anti-war advocate.
