I was on a little hike looking after the Redstart, I saw a little family of Red-Backed Shrikes. I waited for a minute or two and then, they came right in front of me. My goal was to get a flight shot of it, but it didn't focus :(

Soft light and a minimal amount of motion/movement/busyness seem to go hand in hand. The bird in flight would have undoubtedly made a dramatic photo, but I really like the mood created from the calm and stillness of this image too.

I agree, it would've given a more dramatic effect, but I think I like it better this way :)
