This photo was taken in a Finnish forest in winter. The snow and dark tree trunks form a repeating pattern that fades into the distance. The overcast sky turned the ground into a reflector, lighting the snowy side of each trunk while leaving the other in shadow.

The photo was shot handheld with a Panasonic Lumix S5 and Lumix S 20–60 mm f/3.5–5.6 lens.
