Portrait of Daria.
This was my last studio session for a while, as I decided to end the lease on my studio space. The goal was simply to have fun and shoot without any set plans. This image ended up being one of my favorites from the day. It was also among the first shots where I focused mainly on figuring out the lighting, asking Daria to pose straight on to the camera.
It’s one of only two images from the session that I converted to black and white. I feel her clothing, jewelry, and hair work beautifully with the tonal range.
Lighting was kept simple: two large softboxes—one camera right as the key, and the other on-axis for fill.
