“The Giants are Gone” - Golden Ears Park, BC
The towering old-growth trees that once defined British Columbia have largely been logged. In this area, logging began as early as 1926. Along the lake, remnants of the past remain. Clusters of old stumps are scattered along the shore. On this rainy morning, we kayaked through the mist and stumbled upon a group of stumps rising from the water. The soft, diffused light filtering through the clouds gave the scene an eerie, almost ghostly atmosphere. I positioned my tripod on a fallen log and captured a long exposure to preserve the haunting quiet of the moment.
