I took this image in Arashiyama/Kyoto during my last Japan trip in autumn 2024. I used the Nikon D800 and Nikkor 14-24mm at f8 and 1/250 sec. I had to focus stack it in order to get the foreground sharp enough. In hindsight I realized that I didn't do a good job with the focus stack but I decided to leave it this way so that Lee has something he can call "monkey business". Anyways, it was a beautiful morning and we managed to come early enough before most of the other tourists. Kyoto was at peak autumn fall colors. So we considered ourselves very lucky as it is hard to forecast. In 2024 the fall colours came actually significantly later compared to previous years. This particular tree is very known amongst the local photographers as it has almost a bonsai kind of shape. I lot of cleaning in post was necessary as local authorities have placed many signboards along the tree.
