I took this photograph in El Retiro Park, a place I often return to because of the atmosphere and the way the light behaves throughout the day. I shot it with a 50mm lens at f/4 on my Canon EOS RP, using a vintage Yashica ML 50mm, which gives the image a slightly softer and more organic feel.
What interested me most in this scene was the mood. There was something quiet and almost cinematic about the moment, and I wanted to capture that feeling rather than just document the place. The light and shadows helped shape the image, adding depth and guiding the viewer’s attention in a subtle way.
As a 17-year-old photographer, I’m still exploring and learning, but I try to approach each photo with intention. In this case, I focused on keeping a natural perspective while creating a gentle separation between elements in the frame, allowing the subject to stand out without losing the context of the environment.
For me, this photograph is less about the location itself and more about the emotion it conveys — a small, calm moment within a busy city.
