Water a Diptych

Before the world went digital, photography for most was analog, cameras, film. Its objective was print or to be printed (i.e. published). This was a photographer world. I print therefore I am … a (traditional) photographer. Prints are tangible, digital images are far too often virtual, fleeting temporary momentary even when “viral”, 15 minutes, months of fame at best, not years. A print on the other hand last for years whether on a wall or stowed away in an attic or archival storage waiting for rediscovery.
I chose this entry with the help of fellow Fstoppers members, and one of the site’s many algorithms. My preferred method of browsing other members work is through the sites Popular Tags. I found this set of my photographs (as is) during one of these frequent browsing sessions. Having printed both these individually but never thinking of them together, until this pairing. So I captured a screenshot of them as inspiration. Both images where made on film with my 85mm 1.8 lens at f/16 while using the hyper focal distance scale for the maximum depth of field.

The image on the left is of a desert spring, below sea level reflecting the mountainous cliffs above.

The image on the right was made on a backcountry hike in the Greater Yellowstone - Grand Teton area of an Elk skull at the bottom of a hot spring.

Great caption! Every photographer should print. Like shooting with film, printing makes a photo more intentional. Quality vs quantity.

Thank you Anna for your thoughtful comment. I wasn't expecting literary critique but thanks it was what I needed! I presume my photographic entries are fine!? ;)
