Aspen in Fall
Canon R5; 100-500mm RF lens; 1/200 sec at f/8.0; 135mm at ISO 1250
This photo was taken in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Santa Fe. A small cluster of aspen leaves clings on, adding a splash of color in contrast to the unique monochromatic tones of the aspen bark and branches, and the distinctive ‘eyes’ on the trunk. The backdrop is a cluster of aspens on the opposite mountainside. The primary challenge in this area is choosing the right composition and being there at the right time of day to get good light. We have this print hanging in the entry area of our home. It’s easy to live with. The colors are subtle, yet brighten the area.
