Neskowin Ghost Forest
These “rocks” are actually 2000 year old preserved tree trunks that were first observed on the Oregon Coast in the mid-90s. They emerge only during low-tide and provide some of the more unique photo-layering subjects I’ve come across.
This was shot using a Sony A7S2, 16-35 F2.8 @25mm, 1.3/sec, f/16, iso 50
The biggest challenge, outside of finding them at low tide, and attempting to frame out any people. was stabilizing my travel tripod to get a longer exposure image to allow for some motion blur of the waves while still maintaining sharp focus on the “ghosts”.
I think this would make a great large photo portrait to anyone looking for a unique coastal scene, with stark contrast, that’s only available in one place.
