This photo was captured along the Katsura River near Daihikaku Senkō-ji Temple in Kyoto, Japan, using a Canon R50 with a Canon EF-S 18–55mm lens. I composed the scene from the riverbank, using the overhanging tree to frame the boat and guide the viewer’s eye through the image. The vibrant greens and layered landscape create depth, while the boat adds scale and narrative.

This photograph prints well at large sizes due to its clarity, natural color, and strong composition. A key challenge was balancing exposure across reflective water and bright foliage, while timing the shot to capture the boat in the ideal position.
