Strobe or Natural Light? Let the War Begin.

I love watching other photographers at work. In this video, you will see one of my favorite fashion photographs, Lindsay Adler, who is known for studio lighting and Dani Diamond, who prefers natural light. They go head to head on the streets of New York with the same model.

I really enjoy watching how photographers choose their camera settings, whether they shoot natural light or strobe, and how they work with models. This video is very inspiring and is a great tutorial and yes, it's ultimately an advertisement for V-Flat World, but still it’s a great way to see how these two photographers work and what you can learn from them.

I prefer shooting on location with natural light in most cases, and if the light isn’t quite right or I want to add some interest to the scene, I will add a strobe or a reflector. But there are some advantages to working in a studio with strobes. For one, you have total control over the light and your surroundings. I will say I do get a little nervous in parts of Los Angeles with all my gear out on the sidewalk, but luckily, I have never had any issues.

If I feel lazy I do 'natural light' which is what most of the Sony crowd are, but omg everyone loves those pictures!
