If you want a rangefinder, you don't have to be a dentist to afford a Leica or other "premium" rangefinder. Many companies made them. Yashica made several including variations of their Electro 35. Minolta had some compact rangefinders. You could get a Zorki or FED from the former Soviet Union.

Zorki is new to me, thank you!

You are welcome.
