To say New York City is a high-energy city would be a wholly plain and severely understated description of a city with which many have a deep loving, hateful, or love/hate relationship. The complexity of this relationship is further compounded by an unconditional love that many of its inhabitants feel, although that love might often be one born of a deep respect for its power to make or break those who hope to succeed within its confines. "F*cking New York" is a new photographic fine art book that expresses much of this tension, freedom, and energy through a visual exploration of a hypothetical "sexual relationship" with New York City.
Produced and shot by New York Fashion Photographer Nikola Tamindzic, "Fucking New York" features a broad range of people from professional models, writers, and political activists to porn stars, all of varying body types, and each exploring sexuality in a way that they choose within the city. Not all of the featured photographs are nudes. Some are extremely graphic, but they could all be described as anything from provocative to contemplative.
The idea that the project is something deep and emotional as suggested in the Kickstarter launch video might be harder for some to believe than for those that participated to feel. Regardless, the resulting work is certainly visceral and not at all lacking in spirit. It certainly evokes a certain feeling of freedom to see the nude human body expressed so freely within the world's most famous metropolis.
For those weary of yet another Kickstarter project, the book is already nearly 150 percent funded, so this is definitely happening (unless it's a scam — joke). "Fucking New York" comes in a standard version for $65 or a collector's edition with other perks for $325, both of which come with an estimated September 2016 delivery. Other perks from prints to postcards are also available, some of which will arrive as early as June.
Fantastic article and pics
Very cool. Off to kickstarter!
I like it. I especially like the fact that so many people will be outraged.
Meh.
I would have assumed [NSFW] would be in the title... even though it says "sexual" and "fcking" I don't want to assume nude photos will be shown.
Pick a subject, any subject. Add T&A. Sell.
Not the most novel formula in the world.
Are people now just finding anything that would be considered "hardcore" or "controversial" to get noticed?? There was that lady that would pour her pee on her photos.. now this guy who's "Fucking New York." Not original and not interesting. "Fucking New York" is Fucking Stupid..... But what do I know.. I'm not a European fashion photographer living in New York.
