Newsweek recently conducted a massive survey to determine the best online retailers for customer service, and B&H came out on top in the online photo and video category.
The evaluation process was impressively extensive, involving 132,954 evaluations from over 20,000 customers. The score was then built from six categories: likelihood of recommendation, quality of communication, technical competence, range of services, customer focus, and accessibility. B&H won the online photo and video category with an overall score of 8.75 out of 10 and was actually third overall out of hundreds of companies in 141 different categories. Personally, I've always had good experiences with B&H; they've been quite knowledgeable even when I had some rather specific questions and have been very helpful whenever I've had any issues. As you're making holiday purchases, customer service is definitely something to consider, and I can attest that B&H's is quite good.
On a related note, if you've never been to the physical store, you should definitely go if you're in Manhattan and have the chance. The massive conveyor belt system that runs all throughout it is worth the trip alone. It's located at 420 Ninth Avenue on the corner of West 34th Street.
I agree that the store is a gear-head Disneyland. I also give them a "ten" for customer service. Unfortunately, I get the great service when I have to return something. Three out of my last four shipments have destroyed due to poor packaging.
I can go to NYC without stopping some cold hard cash. And I leave immensely happy every time! Just saying. I get excited watching all the purchases a going by overhead. I plead. To be there soon!
For years I'd been longing to go to the B&H store in NYC. I FINALLY made it there in September this year, only to find it closed for Rosh Hashanah! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
A veritable Griswold arrival to Walley World.
Well, I will have to disagree.
missing items, 2 days to get answer from email. very long repair time compare to official brand (3 months instead of 2 weeks)...
If they are so good, I'm wondering about the others now!
I've never had a problem with them. Everything I've gotten has been on time and packed properly. Of course now that I've said that Murphy's Law will kick in (liked the time I said I've never had an Amazon package lost or damaged).
What happened to the law suits against them for employing illegal workers and then treating them very poorly? I am sure it was B&H but maybe I am wrong
It was them and if I am not mistaken there were some compensations given to some employees, I am not sure of the exact outcome though.
I never said 'illegal workers' or immigrants, that was Phill's words. I do not know much about it but I am sure it can be Googled.
After reading a set of your comments it would be better if you kept your political tendencies to yourself and comments only on matters relevant to photography.
How about uploading some images as this is a photo forum...
You are truly a troll. Every site has them. You must have too much free time or are just pissed off at life in general and use any type of forum to get attention. Get a life you poor excuse for a human.
Its a photo forum. Stay on point and stop shovelling your political/religeous/off topic views.
btw. I reported you. Always upfront with people when i report them. You need to understand why you have been reported so you can modify your behaviour to fit in.
This is a PHOTOGRAPHY forum and therefore you can either discuss photography or keep your non-photographic views to yourself.
And how many times I did that :-)...
You are correct, they are in trouble over paying overtime and treatment of employees. I haven’t heard about the outcome of the case but it must be coming to a conclusion soon.
Looking through various news sites there are cases going back to 2000. In 2007 they settled for $4.3 million in compensation for discriminatory practices according to a few reputable websites. The current case from 2016 seems to be still ongoing with the Labor Department For Discrimination. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Nothing like a putting their Logo and a plug for a major Vendor at the top of your page for Black Friday.
My guess is that B&H paid for that spot.
It would say its a sponsored post if that was the case
Well the links all have affliliate codes....
I've always received good service from them.
I have been buying from B&H for years. I love how easy everything is and how fast the stuff gets to me. Buying from them is like buying from a store next door. I live in Canada and they always made it easy to ship to us.
Is Newsweek still being published? :)
Very good customer service & response, but horrible shipping dept. as regards my experiences. I'm now on my third try to have them ship some very ordinary 13x19 photo frames without having them arrive with broken glass everywhere in the box. So far, 10 frames shipped in two shippings with only 2 surviving without broken glass. Found a bunch of air pillow cushion on TOP of the frames, but nothing on the bottom (both shipments packed the same). If box is dropped, even a small distance, there is no chance for glass.
What's the old saying about the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Lots of waste and extra cost that could be avoided with some extra care, B&H.
I can't imagine any of us who have purchased from them not agreeing with this award. They work very hard on our behalf and it's always a joy to shop there.
