Canon Will Beat Nikon to the Punch With the EOS R3

Now that the Sony a1 is out, a lot of the market's attention has been turned toward Canon and Nikon, who are readying the EOS R3 and Z 9, respectively, for announcement. It looks like Canon's EOS R3 will arrive first, in just a few months.

We recently learned the Nikon Z 9 will be announced likely in November or December. As the company's flagship mirrorless camera, it will represent their most advanced technology to date, meant to compete directly with Sony's a1. While we know the EOS R1 will be Canon's equivalent flagship camera, it is the EOS R3 that is next in line, and many of its specs will keep pace or even exceed those of the Z 9 and a1, with features like 30 fps continuous bursts, eye-controlled autofocus, and the company's first full frame backside-illuminated sensor, which should provide improved dynamic range and low-light performance. Canon Rumors is reporting that the camera will be announced in September of this year, a few months ahead of the Z 9. This is unsurprising, as the EOS R3 will likely be in the hands of many photographers at the Olympics, and surely, Canon wants to get it to market as soon as possible given the strong competition at the moment. The second half of the year should be quite exciting!

It’s been a while since I logged in here at fstoppers, but these kind of headlines make me wonder if I should delete my account.
A big headline followed by almost zero content.

Sad, but true

Just go to Canon Rumors and call it a day.

I believe these cameras like the sony A1, Canon R3/1 or Nikon Z9 are at a pricepoint which might not sell in great numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if a kit lens from one of these generates more prifit than these cameras combined. It would be interesting to get the numbers sold from the bread and butter full frame cameras from canon, sony, nikon. This might tell a total different story

I am not sure about others, just on Sony A1, it's been selling quite well amongst the Wildlife, Bird Nature photographers. People still keep their 1DX, D5, D500 but picking up Sony A1 as a second body.

Really hope Canon releases the R3 as soon as possible.

Fstoppers, in particular Alex Cookes „Articels“ are really devolving…i think im done with this site for good. Constant cheap youtube reposts or like this now the 3rd pseudo-pre-announcement with ZERO information in it…bwah…
