Canon has announced the EOS C50, the smallest and lightest camera in its Cinema EOS lineup. At 1.5 pounds, the C50 is designed to balance portability with professional-level video and stills capabilities.

At the center of the system is a newly developed 7K full frame CMOS sensor paired with Canon’s DIGIC DV7 processor. The camera records 12-bit Cinema Raw Light internally at up to 7K 60p, and also supports XF-AVC, XF-AVC S, and XF-HEVC S codecs in MP4 format. For still photography, the C50 captures 32.3-megapixel images and offers continuous shooting at up to 40 fps with the electronic shutter.

The EOS C50 is also the first Cinema EOS model to include full frame 3:2 open gate recording. For creators producing social media content, it supports simultaneous crop recording in aspect ratios of 9:17, 9:16, and 1:1 while capturing 4K or UHD video.
