Announced this morning at NAB 2016, the G-RACK 12 is G-Technology's first network-attached storage (NAS) device to the market. Featuring bays for up to 12 hard drives, the G-RACK 12 combines the company's proven direct-attached storage (DAS) reliability and speed with network access over quad 10-gigabit-Ethernet (10 GbE) ports for a super fast networked connection for virtually any small business or studio.
Although anyone can make use of the system thanks in part to the slick user interface of G-Technology's software for the system, the G-RACK 12's rack-mounted form factor, 2,000 MB/s data transfer rates, dual 12-core Xeon processors, and features such as the dual mini-SAS hot bus adapters make it ideal for small businesses and medium-sized studios. Meanwhile, the G-RACK 12 EXP expansion chassis lets businesses expand down the road by enabling users to add up to an additional 120 TB.
The new server units also feature compatibility with various non-linear editing suites, making it easy to integrate them into varying workflows.
Today's announcement leads the way for G-Technology to offer future NAS systems that could be geared more ideally for single photographers and videographers currently working alongside the company's DAS systems, as the G-RACK 12 is a clear signal that G-Technology is getting serious about NAS.
The G-RACK 12 and G-RACK 12 EXP utilize either 48 TB, 72 TB, 96 TB, or 120 TB of HGST enterprise-class storage, depending on the configuration chosen, with pricing ranging from $16,999.95 to $32,999.95 for the G-RACK 12 and $11,999.95 to $16,999.95 for the expansion chassis.
Not thinking of this anytime soon, but their G-Dock is the business!

No sysadmin worth their dime would ever buy G-shit for server stuff. Why?
Correct, because they would loose their jobs or would be more responsible to support us creatives with the right color grading on our monitors instead of playing around with Shared Workspace Storage stuff which should only run and be fast,. The G-Rack is owned by the creative director and he decides on a project base how much storage a group or a user should get for his projects. He is the man due to the easy GUI!
What an extraordinary price for such an item. Would be reasonable valuable at around 25% of the price. Crazy.
In fact it is a great investment and this product is designed for Media & Entertainment Production houses without any Sys Admin Knowledge. I was in a few calls and got first hand information from G-Tech and I believe it is matching perfectly the needs of creative workspaces today. Easy to install, easy GUI which is outstanding fast, I also saw a few live demos and setting up Users is simply and very fast.
