GoPro Hero 13 Black Announced with Interchangeable HB-Series Lenses

GoPro has announced its latest flagship action camera, the Hero 13 Black. This new camera comes with the same sensor as the previous model, with a few tweaks. However, GoPro has also announced a series of lenses for the new camera.

GoPro Hero 13 Black makes a few subtle improvements over the previous Hero 12 Black model. The new camera offers better Wi-Fi for faster transfers, built-in GPS, a bigger battery, and higher frames per second when filming. The new camera can now record 5.3K at 120 frames per second, 720p at 400 frames per second, and 360p at 900 frames per second for those that don't mind sacrificing resolution for speed.

Additionally, the new camera comes with magnetic mounting and charging for the Hero 13 Black. The Hero 13 Black also supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) video recording in HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) format and 10-bit video in GoPro’s G-Log color profile. This means users can capture footage with a broader range of colors and improved color grading flexibility during post-production.

However, the highlight for this launch is, of course, the new lenses. Alongside the Hero 13 Black, GoPro is also launching a new set of HB-Series lenses.

These include an anamorphic lens that will offer a 21:9 aspect ratio recording along with a wider field of view to the standard lens, an ultra-wide lens that can capture 177 degrees of view, and a 1:1 macro lens that can focus as close as 11 cm.

The new Hero 13 Black will cost $399 for the camera, and with all three lenses, the total price is $757.98. However, GoPro does have a subscriber program on the website that will reduce the cost of lenses by 20%, and the subscription is free if you purchase the new camera from the GoPro site linked here

I wish somebody would make an action cam with an option for a FoV equivalent of a 35mm to 50mm. When I'm on a roadtrip, I want to record the scene the way I see it through my windshield. Currently, anything past my hood is soooo tiny due to the wide angle. Only options are even more wide angle. arrgh.

I agree.

It seems most addon lenses are wider despite action cameras already having a super wide field of view.
