Last Chance to Buy Photography Gear From Fstoppers on eBay

Last Chance to Buy Photography Gear From Fstoppers on eBay

Fstoppers currently has 20 items up for sale on eBay and they all expire today. If you want to buy any of our gear, this is your last chance

Not everything in the picture above is still available. We did sell some of it locally and some stuff, like light stands, simply aren't worth trying to sell and ship to someone. Luckily though, the most valuable gear is still available and you can check it out on eBay right now. If you buy multiple items I will refund you the difference in shipping costs once your items are mailed out.

We are only shipping items within the U.S. (because we have been burned so many times shipping to other countries in the past) and therefor if you are in another country, these auctions may be hidden from you.

Lee, all i can see in Ebay, is a Nikon D800!!

I just figured out why. It's because I am only shipping this stuff within the US and it's blocking you from seeing my listings. Sorry about that.

Decided to keep the Parrot Mini Drone eh? :)

Well the funny thing about that is that they asked for it back!

Where's all this kit you talk about? Your link takes us to your D800.

The links take me to a list of gear

D800 starting bid $1,000? You're having a larf, right?

Then it won't sell and I'll lower the price.

We sold one locally for $1300...$1000 for a used D800 seems like a steal

I agree, $1,000 would be a steal. What you've overlooked is that $1,000 is the starting price.

well there is a D800 listed that is still below $1000 :)

I can only see the Nikon as well

Makes sense! Oh well :)

Wow, a lot of great deals there!

I would love to have the camera you guys used before :D Hovever, I am in Turkey. Hope you will get all the stuff sold. Have a nice day

If there was a peer-to-peer marketplace specifically designed for selling used camera gear, would anyone use it? I'm trying to find out because I'm software developer and frequent buyer/seller of used gear and I might build such a thing, but I'm not sure.

My buddy was recently talking about this. Apparently there is a really big one just for sound equipment. To make it valuable, it's going to have offer extra things that eBay can't and I'm not sure what those would be.

I have been thinking about this for a long time and conducted surveys. The biggest concern/feature is trust. I think it will need to have escrow built in to address that. Also, lower fees than eBay as well.

Check out Reverb.com. The only problem I have is that I assume people don't value or desire old camera gear the way they do audio and musical equipment. Would anyone actually want a D200 or 5D Mark I except that they are broke and need something to hold them over? 30 year old guitars and amps actually increase in value where as camera gear generally plummets more and more each year.

Thanks for pointing me to this. It looks very similar to what I have in mind.
Musical instruments certainly have more value but I feel like there's a market for such a thing for camera gear.

Again, I'm not totally sure so we're in the MVP/validation phase of this service. If you're interested in learning more, we have a landing page and plan to host some screencasts to get more feedback. http://gearoffer.com/

Thanks for you input.

Fredmiranda is the oldest and largest selling forum I'm aware of.

Yeah, I've seen Fred Miranda and it's pretty huge. I have never used it but lot's of people do. There are many little niche forums too where people buy and sell gear like dyxum.com (Sony gear). I'll certainly have to compete with those.

For anyone looking for a place to sell their gear, and keep the most amount of their money, I'd recommend selling your gear on Grid50: http://grid50gear.com/

The selling fees are only 3.5% compared to 10% on eBay. Plus, it's a site dedicated to only photo and video gear.
