The Rokinon AF 35mm f/2.8 FE Brings Another Low-Price Lens Option to Sony Cameras

The Rokinon AF 35mm f/2.8 FE Brings Another Low-Price Lens Option to Sony Cameras

Rokinon announced the latest in their line of autofocus lenses made for Sony E-mount cameras with the 35mm f/2.8 FE. Joining the AF 14mm f/2.8 FE and AF 50mm f/1.4 FE, the company once known for its comparably inexpensive manual focus lenses remains on course to gain momentum with the new autofocus releases.

The new full-frame E-mount lens has an aluminum alloy housing, weighs 3 ounces, and measures in at a compact 2.43 by 1.30 inches. Internally, the wide-angle AF 35mm has two aspherical elements and one high-refractivity element included in the seven elements in six groups. The lens has a seven-bladed aperture and features Ultra Multi-Coating to reduce flaring and ghosting. The autofocus motor works seamlessly with Sony’s focusing systems and can be manually overridden with the focus ring. There is no physical aperture ring, so the f/2.8-f/22 aperture range will have to be dialed in on the camera. On a APS-C Sony camera such as the a6500, the lens will be a standard 52mm equivalent.

The Rokinon AF 35mm f/2.8 FE lens is priced at $399 and can be preordered now.

Sounds interesting, have to take it for a test drive first but could be quite nice. I love 35mm.

I've never tried any Rokinon lenses. I like the design of their lenses and usually don't hear anything bad about them. I wouldn't mind giving this one a try. I need 35mm.
