Vivo’s new V50 smartphone is making a point: great photography doesn’t have to come from expensive camera gear.
Vivo's “VLOVE Portrait Gallery” event in Bangkok featured photographer Jimmy Marble using the V50 to capture a series of striking images that look like they were taken with a high-end camera.
Known for his bold colors and surreal compositions, Marble typically works with professional equipment, but this time, he shot everything on a smartphone.
The 50 MP ZEISS All Main Camera is the centerpiece of the V50’s photography setup. Vivo partnered with ZEISS to ensure the camera captures sharp details and realistic colors with ZEISS Natural Color processing. Unlike many smartphone cameras that artificially boost saturation, the V50 keeps tones balanced and natural.
Marble’s portraits push the camera’s capabilities, using its ZEISS Multifocal Portrait feature, which offers 23 mm, 35 mm, and 50 mm focal lengths. This gave him the flexibility to shoot everything from wide, dramatic shots to tight, intimate portraits. The phone’s seven ZEISS Style Bokeh effects also helped him create depth and separation without needing a dedicated lens.
Lighting is a big part of Marble’s work, and the AI Aura Light Portrait 2.0 feature helped mimic studio lighting, adjusting brightness and softness dynamically. The AI 3D Studio Lighting 2.0 ensured that facial details and textures remained sharp, even in low light.
