Vivo has launched its latest flagship smartphones, the X200 and X200 Pro, to the global market. The most notable change is that Vivo has used a smaller camera sensor this year compared to the X100 Pro models.
Last year’s model, the X100 Pro, featured a 1-inch sensor for the main camera, which brought significant benefits in image quality. A 1-inch sensor is typically found in “proper” cameras, making its inclusion in a smartphone noteworthy. However, this year, Vivo has opted for a smaller sensor in the X200 Pro and X200 phones.
Vivo explained that this decision was a challenge for the marketing department, but it was necessary to improve the phone's overall features. The 1-inch sensor was described as outdated technology. Sony has not developed advancements in this specific segment, leading Vivo to adopt the 1/1.28-inch sensor.
With this new sensor, Vivo has managed to maintain photo performance while offering significant improvements in video capabilities.
The X200 series features a 200 MP APO Telephoto Camera and a 50 MP Ultra Wide-Angle Camera. It also introduces the Vivo × Sony LYT-818 sensor, enhancing low-light and long-range photography. Both devices aim to redefine mobile imaging with features like Super Landscape Mode and 4K HDR Cinematic Portrait Video.
