Ricoh Announces Development of GR IV, Their Latest High-End Compact Snapshot Camera

Ricoh Imaging has officially announced the development of the GR IV, the newest model in its GR series of compact digital cameras. Scheduled to be released in Autumn 2025, the GR IV continues the GR tradition of prioritizing high image quality, responsiveness, and portability, aiming to be a versatile and highly capable snapshot camera.

The GR IV introduces several upgrades, including an entirely new lens, image sensor, and imaging engine, promising notable improvements in image quality. Enhanced connectivity functions and compatibility with the new GR WORLD smartphone application further expand the camera's usability and functionality.

The GR IV's exterior will be previewed at GR SPACE locations in Tokyo, Beijing, and Shanghai beginning May 31, 2025. Ricoh also confirmed the discontinuation of the current GR III model in July 2025 due to component availability issues. However, production of the GR IIIx will continue. A variant featuring an HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) is planned for release after Winter 2025.
