This is a photo I took in Nebraska last summer on a ranch, I have tried post processing but was just messing around with Lightroom, looking for how I could improve on it
I am not a lightroom / PS expert by any means, just wanting to make the milky way pop
Have you tried the dehaze tool on the Milky Way core? I’d also use a radial filter in LR and apply some subtle contrast on the core. There’s a lot of detail you can bring out there
With the dehaze tool, it appears to affect the whole photograph, it's not like the radial tool where you could pick an area? the one with the milky way in more detail i used the dehaze tool, which is why you see the light in the horizon, but did not use the radial filter, I will try that and post the results I get
wow...you pulled out a ton of detail assuming the first image is unedited. It looks almost completely black to me.
Thanks, yes, the first image is unedited
Sorry for just seeing this now.
I am shocked you got that much MW detail out of the original. If you really want to improve your MW shots, you'll need to get stronger detail in the MW out of camera, stack multiple images, or track and stack.
I think you did awesome with that original though.
I thought about doing track and stack but that was a vacation trip photo of just a single shot, and I did not bring my cam tracker on the trip, my mistake...
