Rhythm in the Chaos

It is often - usually - hard to find a pleasing composition in densely vegetated areas for me, especially forests. This was a bit more open, the foreshore near Artillery Rocks on Victoria's west coast. The gnarled dead tree caught my eye, set off by the flowing grasses. I was happy with the end result.

What looks a lot like flowers behind it is actually green foliage. By manipulating the colours as I made the monchrome image I was able to increase the contrast of the foliage and grass against the tree to help it stand out. The effect reminds me of infrared film images. The increased overall contrast made the rock at lower right look almost like graphite.
