Origin 🌎 Story

During one of my wanders around the city of Dijon, I happened across this lonely carousel in the middle of a small, cobblestoned square. After passing by it several times without much consideration, I was recently struck by a sudden inspiration to take a sort of portrait of this little retro-looking carousel. I took this carousel on a little journey to a more fitting backdrop with the magic of photo composition in photoshop. To my eyes, the ancient style of the carousel felt more at home in one of the many narrow, medieval alleyways around the church of Notre Dame of DIjon. To capture the photographs for this concept, I took out my widest angle lens and took a photograph of the carousel with a low perspective. For the environment component, I placed my camera as low and as close as possible to a metal drainage grate set among the rough cobblestones to create a dramatic perspective. Then, I used the technique of focus stacking to make sure the scene was sharp throughout. I also knew I wanted a more interesting sky to complete the mood, and so I captured a sun-kissed sky with beautiful clouds out of a window. In fact, I was so eager to turn my vision into a reality, that I completed all of the photography and editing in one day.
