Hi Dean!
You had perfect light for the sculpture! It appears quite lively on the photograph. Just remove the pole and the viewer may feel approached... Well done!
The 2nd is a good documentary, to show 'reality' and provide a scale.
I debated removing the pole, but left it in place, less persons unknown on Social Media would claim it's AI crap.
Lovely work Dean. I think your decision regarding the pole is the correct one. Without it the viewer would suspect it’s not real.
This i can understand. Depends what your targets and measures are. Yes, the sculpture might be detected as rendered. But somehow real. And that tension is for me a value of this photo. Leaving it to the viewer, challenging their perception... And somehow accepting to be accused about AI or artificial stuff.
That 1st photo has excellent color to it...Those sculptures are neat. There is one in downtown Seattle at the Embassy Suites building.
This is awe-inspiring work. I'm a little confused, though, about what I'm looking at and whose work it is because of the two photographs put up in Don L's response further down. Working in this medium must be incredibly hard, but very satisfying. I can't imagine them selling at a great rate, though, because, as beautiful as it is, where the hell would you put it?
if your talking about the eagles, out in front of a building...
You would put it at the eagles club!
Without support, in my eye make it look like a rendition rather than a work of Art.
It is a work of art, post or no post. There are too many indicators that this is a sculpture and not a real eagle. I very clearly see what you mean, although I'm not sure what you mean by “rendition.” You can't get away from the fact that it is a sculpture, and having it hanging like it is without any support does make it look odd. Still, I think it's spectacular.
My concern was whether "others" would automatically assume it was an AI generated photo.
I personally would have left the pole out and not given a toss about what other people think. I don't think there's anything about it that looks AI, with or without the poll, and I'm fairly certain there are plenty of people who would think it's AI even with the pole. I just think it would have been a better photograph without the poll. I think it's an absolutely stunning photograph and a stunning work of art.
