I fully appreciate subtlety when it comes to processing, I feel we are far too often presented with images over-edited.
However, I think there are many cases where a lack of subtlety is justified, and many master the technique to produce stunning results (as opposed to camouflage a weak image).
This is one instance I feel justification. The image was taken inside the Eastern State Penitentiary, a dark, gloomy and depressing place. I really wanted to bring out the color and texture within the decay and lift the gloomy atmosphere.
If interested in seeing others taken within the prison I have included a series on my website;

All were taken on a family visit during a peak tourist time, as such time and opportunities were limited. I hope to return at a more opportune time as the possibilities in that place are endless.
you were down my way!?!? i really need to get down there during the week so i can grab my own shots of this place Joe Scalise has a fantastic image of this in his gallery you should check it out https://fstoppers.com/photo/342148
Yeah, Joe’s shot was my original inspiration. My son recently moved to Philadelphia, hence the opportunity.
