May Challenge - intersections

In line with this month's challenge here are a few others where details may be missed on first viewing.

All revolve around my experiments with the followICM technique. In this series I was exploring the effect of capturing the flow of humanity (intersections) at long shutter speeds.

The first two images are intentionally abstract, both in detail and processing. These capture the counterflow of pedestrians.

The second two offer greater detail, allowing a more static subject to draw the eye.

I am expecting that these may not appeal to many, but I enjoy this type of work myself.

These are really good, Alan. I love #1 & #4 the most. The first one captures the busyness with the mixing of colors and elements all congested in the center of the photo. I love it. I like the more static person in the center surrounded by motion. It tells a great story as well as the first. I think my issue with the second is the dark area from, I think, trees? Maybe if it was clear there, it would look like all the motion is going toward a "great beyond." I can't find anything to hold onto in the third one.The yellows surrounding the central figure is a good effect. Nice work on all of these. Hope all is well up north!

Thanks for your thoughtful comments PG.
The 2 you mention are my favorites also, although I quite like the way the girl in the white dress stands out in #3.

Things are going well up here in Vermont, with warm sunny days and trees in bloom.

I like these images. Alan, with the high degree of abstraction you've achieved, and the energy they all convey. Each has its own appeal. You've certainly achieved the effect you mention exploring. Well done, as usual!

I agree with Photo Girl's comments abouit their relative merits. I find the dark central area in the second a bit congested. With regard to the third, the bold yellow shirt in front stops my eye from lingering on the girl in white. 1 and 4 are great!

Thanks Chris. I always appreciate your insight and look forward to your visits. I know this genre is outside of your preferences so it's good to hear a more diverse perspective.

With the consensus on #3 I may try to town down the yellow to see if that helps the flow of the eye towards the girl.

I hope you are doing well and finding inspiration to get out and shoot.
