Eroded Granite, Sunrift Gorge, Montana
I have been a fortunate man in my life. In this case I was camping in Montana, making photographs. This spot was along a creek, more like a river, and it was spring runoff, so every creek and river was running full to capacity. When I saw this I knew immediately what I wanted to do. Getting the camera set up so that I could was a completely different, and difficult, story. The issue was that the rock along the river that I would stand on was as slick as snot. I carefully set up the tripod to get the angle I wanted attached the camera, and attached the lens to it. I used a Toyo 45A camera, a 150mm Sinaron lens with a Dark Green and Polarizing filter on it. I used Kodak T-Max 100 film. The exposure was quite long, two or three minutes as I recall due to using the filters, and a small aperture to hold focus through the composition. Even using the Schleimpflug adjustment depth of field was very small and at f-45 I was concerned that it would hold depth of field. Also concerned that the tripod didn't slip on the very slick rock.

Another wonderful photo, Nathan. I am just really enjoying the sense of movement you capture in your composing - in spite of being rigid stone. The "cloudiness" in the upper left corner just adds to all of it. Nice work as always!
That's awesome! A lot of great texture
Thank you.
