Sand Patterns, Jug Handle Beach
I love these random patterns caused by surf in and surf out. The sun was reflecting out of the western sky just after sunrise. The patterns are endless, and you will never get the same exact one again; ever. I used a Toyo 45A camera, a 150mm Sinaron lens, no filter and Kodak T-Max 100 film.

Nice gritty sand. I like the simple strategic randomness of rock placement and how the wet sand at the top mimics the dry sand at the bottom for that light-dark-light appearance.
You travelled 1500 miles photograph sand? 😂
I think it was Dennis Taylor who said "Retired: That means I don't have a job description and I can do what I want."
In some ways I wish I was retired, but not really. Studies show that people who retire with nothing to do, and no responsibilities die within 5 years. So not thanks. My business was severely damaged by all the COVID edicts, and out insane governor, so my volume of work is hugely less than it was. I still do jobs though. My wife and I do plan vacations very strategically though. She doesn't like large metro areas and prefers isolated remote areas. Perfect for what I do. She prefers to rest, read and play with our dogs. So when we can drive they go with us. She stays near a rented cabin or house, and I go to the woods, beach, whatever.
I spend my working career physically using up my body.
I don't believe in studies. I love retirement as now I am making as much money as I was working and I can take my camera for a walk whenever and wherever I want.
As a serious hobbyist I don't have to worry about making ends meet and I can experiment with my camera and see that works, try out techniques and see what happens as evident by my gallery here.
My wife has no interest in photography other than going on trips and visiting need places. The last two Springs we spent three weeks in the Tucson area, but probably not next year...time to find a new location.
Tucson in the Spring is marvelous. Both Saguaro National Parks, Arizona-Sonora desert. Mt Lemon and others. As to retirement, I guess I'm having too much fun working. I tell people that I'll probably drop over dead during a family portrait session! That'll be memorable!
Nice textures and gradient, Nathan. I also appreciate the choice to use black and white in this image. Good eye.
Thank you. Black and white film is my go to media choice.
