May Challenge / In Need of a Second Look - Or a Really Long First
The first time I showed this image to anyone it was a friend of mine a fellow photographer, peering through a magnifying lupe over a light table, after minutes of silent, study his response did not disappoint.
Nice photograph...I like to examine at the detail and imagining what the entire scene look like and if I was there what camera, lens and settings I would chose for this composition.
Such great detail in the colors and texture. Well done.
I spend most of my time photographing landscapes and when I see someone photo I really like I let my mind wander what are the possibilities shooting at 15mm, or 300mm from a further distance.
But of course I have absolutely no idea what the physical environment look like!
Allan, thanks for your comment and close examination. As to the rock and it’s reflection at close isolation has the appearance of an arrow I assure you it is only an optical illusion.
And yes I think you missed the theme of May’s challenge “In Need of a Second Look”
Alan, no clarification needed I understood what you wrote the first time. What I feel needs clarification is any redeeming quality to your arrow reference upon a magnified observation of a lower than optimum resolution image. To me privately fine no problem but in a public group discussion is a whole other matter.
Sorry Paul, I'm not sure what you are looking for in this thread, and wondering if my intent was not clear
My initial response was simply to confirm that the 'arrow' could easily be overlooked on first viewing (as per the challenge) and questioning whether this is what your friend discovered - or if there was anything else hidden within the image that I may have missed.

Thanks Dean. I'm a little confused on the second part of your sentence are your asking me or is it a rhetorical question?
Rhetorical thought:

Your reflections provide a wonderful depth to this image Paul. It is only after enlarging that I noticed the arrow in the upper right of the frame.
Is there anything else we are missing?

For clarification, I did understand that the arrow was created by the Rick reflection, but seeing only after enlarging and taking a closer look.

Apologies if my communication was not clear.
