use of contrast to lead you "inside: .. at least this was the objective to make a "boring" image interesting and 3D.

Hi Marius. As Jennifer points out there is a lot (of good things) going on in this image and I feel the 'upstairs message gets a bit lost.

I think that if you wish to maintain that story a closer crop may help eliminate some of the distraction. Here's a quick edit just to demonstrate, but as always, your perception is the one that counts.
