hope or desperate? (shadow)
The shadow is huge and just ark with almost no details, The early morning light absorbed by fog. Bad news in the backpack to be digested made me developing the scenery in this pale & dark way.

I love the atmosphere you have created in this image. However, like Jenny I find the black frame overwhelming - drawing my eye from tree to sun then to the harsh contrast between fog and frame on the left.
A tighter crop works better for me, adding more weight to the tree itself. Of course you/others may feel differently, I'm just adding a comparison to allow a slightly different viewpoint.
Thank you Alan for your idea & feedback! A suitable also for me way to crop it a bit more to make it less dark.
