Most of the area around where I inhabit are Douglas Fir and rarely change colors, there are a few dispersed deciduous in home landscapes, so that means a Road Trip!
I spent a week on the Oregon Coast, but the foliage as all Muddy Yellow to Instant Brown.
Back home again and I thought I would just grab one leaf and do a still life.
1) I was interested in a reflection, but I didn't want the gap that shows when using a mirror, so...
I layered, a piece of black paper, a piece of glass and finally the leaf for a 21 shot focus stacked as I was about 3 feet away from the subject.

2) I delivered a ladder for my granddaughters wedding and while I was there I snapped this. No, I was not the wedding photographer and my granddaughter knows better than to ask. I suck at photographing people.

3) I took my camera for a walk yesterday and snapped this composition. I was attracted by the shaped of the cut branches of the Douglas fir and green needles giving depth to the composition.

4) About 15 minutes after photo #3 I was down by the river to see if there was a composition to be made. As the water was relatively calm I wanted to focus on the reflection and then flip it in post rather than shooting upside down.
I had to hurry with this shot because 10 seconds later a power boats came zooming by.

First one is fantastic. The last one, too, though I'd personally crop the left side just a bit. Kudos!
Crop it something like this?
Actually, about 1 minute later a speed boat came by to disturb the serenity.
Hi Dean, wonderful set of images. Like others, I really like the simplicity of the first, and appreciate the effort it took to create.
I also enjoy the 2nd for its moodiness.
Fall foliage is fantastic in Vermont this year, but as is often the case, I find it overstimulating and hard to get out with the camera.
Lovely shots. I particularly like the first reflection image. Fall foliage is one of those subjects that has been done so much that it’s hard to find a way to stand out. And I think that one does
Thank you, Sir.
