The Surprises of Long Exposures at Night

Firstly, upfront, there is nothing that special about this photo in an artistic or technical sense. Here's why I'm posting it: I took the shot at 2am in the countryside. It was pitch black everywhere, including the sky. I kept the shutter open for about a minute. I then looked at my camera display and had one of those 'I love photography' moments! The sky must have been lit up by light pollution from the nearest town, too faint for the human eye but perfect for a camera and a long exposure. This one of the main reasons I do this type of photography: you just never really know what you're gonna see!
